Whether you own a Compact, Digital SLR, Film or Phone Camera, World Photography Day is all about celebrating photography. World Photography Day is an open community event focused on celebrating photography not just globally but within local communities.

Last year, photographers, photography clubs and local businesses across the globe celebrated photography in their own unique way. Leveraging the day to build relationships with local photographers.

Hamilton, New Zealand

In 2012, Snapshot Cameras, a local camera store in New Zealand celebrated photographic history in a very special way. Not only did they have a collection of old cameras on display, they also had a local Daguerreotypist, Alan Bekhuis expose and develop daguerreotypes onsite in his mobile darkroom.

Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore & Kolkata, India

Nikon India celebrated World Photography day with a photo walk in 4 separate cities. As an extension of the Nikon School initiative, the photo walks covered topics such as exposure control, creative use of white-Balance, controlling depth-of-field, etc.

World Photography Day is all about celebrating photography and we want to encourage photographers to celebrate photography across the globe both online and offline.

Plan a Photo Adventure

Love the outdoors? Plan a trip to a National Park for a hike or bush walk and capture your local wildlife and landscape. If you're more of an indoors person, perhaps you could head off on a photography exhibition crawl across town.

Go on a photography date

If you're both into photography, a nice relaxing atmosphere with great photo opportunities sounds great right? How about checking out a local vineyard and snapping a few photos over wine tasting, lunch and a vineyard tour.
