Polo on roof of the world in Pakistan

A polo player eyes the ball at 12,000 meter high Shandur Polo Ground, located between Chitral and Gilgit - Baltistan, in North-West Pakistan.

Capturing these photographs from close range is a risky job because the horses or the stick can hit anyone standing at the side.

The teams of Chitral and Gilgit compete every year in the month of July on the world's highest polo ground.

This year Gilgit won the tournament, breaking a 4-year winning streak of Chitral.
